SOUTH YARMOUTH — Yarmouth Police Department, in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Cape Cod Resident Office, arrested a man on drug trafficking charges after a search warrant was executed at his residence Monday afternoon.

Detectives, supported by K9 Gauge and his handler Detective Ambrosini, discovered over 10 grams of counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl in the suspect’s vehicle parked off Route 28.

The fake pills, which can be deadly due to their high fentanyl content, pose a significant risk as they are designed to mimic legitimate prescription medications.

Ajaydus Cruz, 28, of South Yarmouth, faces charges of Trafficking in More than 10 grams of Fentanyl.

Cruz was brought before the Barnstable District Court for arraignment Tuesday morning.

The Yarmouth Police Department urges anyone seeking more information to reach out to Public Information Officer Nicholas Giammarco at 508-775-0445 ext. 2136 or via email at [email protected].
