SPRINGFIELD — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a loaded large-capacity firearm on Friday, Nov. 22, at around 9:10 p.m.
Springfield Police officers on patrol noticed a vehicle without a front license plate shortly before 8:50 p.m. The traffic stop was initiated as the car parked on the 0-100 block of Carlisle Street.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was neither registered nor insured and had excessive window tint.
As the vehicle was set to be towed, officers conducted a search and discovered a loaded firearm wedged next to the center console, equipped with 16 rounds of ammunition.
All three occupants were arrested at the scene.
Jordan Perez, 21, Mohamud Ali, 20, and Jailyn Cassel, 22, all from Springfield, are facing multiple charges including carrying a firearm without a license and carrying a loaded large capacity firearm on a public way.
Additional charges for Ali include a number plate violation, operating an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle, and driving without a license, along with a window obstruction violation.
