Newport man charged with DUI #2 after single-vehicle incident

NEWPORT — Vermont State Police arrested a Newport man on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after his vehicle went off-road in Newport Town on Nov. 24.

Troopers, alongside the Newport Center Fire Department, responded to a call at 3436 VT Route 100 at about 2:09 p.m. where they found a car with two occupants that had veered off the roadway.

The driver, identified as 40-year-old Robert Ingram of Newport, showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody.

Neither Ingram nor his passenger sustained injuries in the incident.

Following his arrest, Ingram was processed at the Derby Barracks.

He has been cited to appear in Orleans County Criminal Court on Jan. 21 and was released after processing.
