BOSTON — Boston police arrested a man for firearm possession following a vehicle collision in Roslindale early Friday morning.

At about 4:46 a.m., officers from District E-5 (Roslindale/West Roxbury) and District E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to a report of a verbal altercation at the intersection of Polar Street and Dale Street.

Upon arrival, they found that a motor vehicle accident had occurred but confirmed that no one was injured.

Police detained one of the drivers, later identified as Richard Bereus, 21, of Taunton, who was trying to leave the scene.

While advising him that his vehicle needed to be towed, officers conducted an inventory search of the car and discovered a Glock 19 with a Sear Switch, converting it to fully automatic.

The gun had its serial number defaced and was loaded with seventeen rounds of ammunition.

Bereus was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and receiving a firearm with a defaced serial number.

He is expected to face these charges at his arraignment in West Roxbury District Court.
