NEW LONDON — On Friday, officers from the New London Police Department were dispatched to the vicinity of Brainard Street, near the parking lot exit of the Connecticut Superior Court, following reports of gunfire at around 10:39 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found evidence corroborating the initial reports of shots being fired.
The immediate area was placed on lockdown, with nearby locations instructed to secure in place as a precautionary measure.
The area was subsequently secured by law enforcement.
Investigators from the department’s Investigative Services Division were called to the scene, where they collected evidence, processed the site, and canvassed the surrounding neighborhood.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported in connection with the shooting.
Initial findings suggest that the shooting was not a random incident, but the investigation is ongoing to determine the specifics of the event.
