AUGUSTA — A multi-agency operation targeting child exploitation in western and southern Maine resulted in two arrests and 16 search warrants executed over four days this week.

The Maine State Police led the effort, collaborating with federal, county and local law enforcement agencies.

Searches confirmed possession, dissemination and production of child sexual abuse material, as well as dissemination of sexually explicit material to minors and online coercion of children to produce such material.

Warrants were executed in 17 towns across the region, including Lyman, Biddeford, Kittery and Fryeburg.

Two arrests were made during the operation.

Shawn Ramsay, 48, of Arundel was arrested for possessing firearms in violation of a protection order.

Benjamin Fecteau, 37, of Eliot was arrested on outstanding warrants related to sex offender registry violations and other charges.

Participating agencies included Homeland Security Investigations, several local police departments, and sheriff’s offices from Cumberland and Somerset counties.

The investigation remains ongoing.
