BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department arrested an 18-year-old Dorchester resident on firearms charges after a late-night traffic stop in Roxbury.

At about 1:22 a.m. on Friday, November 22, officers assigned to District B-2 were patrolling near Bowdoin Street and Quincy Street when they spotted a vehicle speeding towards Columbia Road.

Upon observing the vehicle stop at a red light and then accelerate rapidly once the light turned green, officers initiated a traffic stop using their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens at Quincy Street and Magnolia Street.

During the stop, officers spoke with the occupants and noted that the front passenger, identified as Jociel De Los Santos-Santana, seemed to be pinning his right arm to his body and repeatedly checking his waistband.

A rear passenger was also observed not wearing a seat belt and was unable to provide identification.

Upon further investigation and after asking the occupants to exit the vehicle, a pat frisk of De Los Santos-Santana revealed a Glock 19 with one round in the chamber and twenty-nine rounds in an extended magazine, capable of holding thirty-one rounds.

De Los Santos-Santana was subsequently arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at Roxbury District Court.
