WATERFORD — In a coordinated sting operation, Waterford Police Department, alongside state agencies, cracked down on the illegal sale of e-cigarettes to minors on Nov. 19, resulting in two infractions.

The undercover effort, involving Waterford High School’s School Resource Officer Norman Malbaurn, Agent Todd Startz from the Connecticut Department of Labor, and representatives from the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services’ Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, targeted local businesses reported to be selling nicotine and tobacco products to underage individuals.

The two businesses cited for violations of C.G.S. 53a-344(b), which addresses the illegal sale of e-cigarette vape products, are Quick-Eze Mobil located at 241 Boston Post Rd. and Sam’s Mart at 125 Boston Post Rd.

During the operation, officials discovered THC products, which are not authorized for sale in Connecticut, at Quick-Eze Mobil.

These items were subsequently removed.

Additionally, vape products were improperly accessible to consumers at Quick-Eze Mobil and were mandated to be relocated to a secure area.
