Maine State Police investigate shooting death in Lincoln

LINCOLN — Maine State Police are investigating a shooting death at a Lincoln residence after responding to a 911 call Wednesday morning.

At around 9:25 a.m., Lincoln Police were dispatched to 614 Mohawk Road following reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a deceased individual at the scene.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North has taken over the investigation to determine the circumstances of the death.

The victim was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy to ascertain the cause and manner of death.

Members of the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team arrived at the residence to process the scene for evidence.

They are expected to continue their work into the night.

Authorities have indicated they believe the shooting to be an isolated incident and reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat to community safety.
