GREENLAND — A multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 95 resulted in serious injuries and a lengthy closure of the highway Wednesday night.

State Troopers from Troop A barracks were called to the scene near mile marker 10.8 at 9:10 p.m. after a collision involving several vehicles.

Troopers who were already in the vicinity arrived quickly, assessed the situation, and called for medical support, immediately assisting the injured.

The initial report indicates that a collision occurred when Thomas J.

Daneault, 26, from Merrimack, driving a 2017 Volkswagen Golf, rear-ended a 2022 Toyota 4Runner operated by Adam A.

Woods, 29, of Ipswich, Massachusetts, who was also traveling southbound.

The impact sent the Toyota off the road, while Daneault’s vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes, where it was struck by a 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI driven by Christopher J. Dimare, 49, of Portsmouth.

Daneault, ejected from his car before it caught fire, suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.

Dimare sustained serious injuries, and Woods received a medical evaluation at the scene.

A passenger in Woods’ car was unharmed.

The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit joined Troop A in investigating the crash.

The debris from the accident necessitated a complete shutdown of I-95 in both directions for about five hours.

Traffic was rerouted at Exits 2 and 3, with the road reopening at 2:07 a.m.

Multiple agencies, including local police and fire departments, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and National Wrecker Service, provided assistance.

The investigation is ongoing, and witnesses or those with relevant information are encouraged to reach out to Trooper Shane McClure.
