WARWICK — Warwick Police Department has announced the arrest of Mark Perkins in connection with the murder of Charlotte Lester, a case that has been under investigation for over two years.
On Nov. 17, officers received new information regarding Lester’s disappearance.
Following this lead, an arrest warrant was issued, and on Nov. 20 at 9:14 a.m., Perkins was taken into custody at his residence at 29 Staples Avenue.
Born on June 20, 1960, Perkins faces a charge of First Degree Murder.
He is scheduled for arraignment at the Kent County District Courthouse at 2 p.m. the same day.
The Warwick Police Department has expressed gratitude towards their Detective Division, the Attorney General’s Office, and the family and friends of Lester for their efforts during the investigation.
As the investigation is still active, authorities are withholding additional details at this time.
