ST. JOHNSBURY — A months-long investigation by the St. Johnsbury Police Department has resulted in the arrest of Saladene K.
Stevens, a 32-year-old resident of the town, on multiple charges including sexual assault on a child and lewd and lascivious conduct.
The police began their investigation in March and discovered that Stevens had been engaged in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl starting in September and continuing until November of the following year.
The investigation, which included several interviews and extensive probing, led to Stevens being charged with additional counts of contributing to juvenile delinquency, cruelty to a child under 16, and violation of conditions of release.
Detective Sgt. Lester Cleary, the officer in charge of the case, confirmed that Stevens has been cited to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on Nov. 22 at 12:30 p.m. Stevens is currently being held without bail at the Northeast Correctional Facility.
The court has taken action in this case, and further details are expected to emerge during the upcoming court proceedings.
