Springfield man charged with false public alarm, disorderly conduct

SPRINGFIELD — A local man was arrested after causing a disturbance at Springfield Hospital, where he triggered a fire alarm following his departure from treatment, the Springfield Police Department reported.

Benjamin F. Burns was taken into custody in the hospital parking lot at 10:19 p.m. on Nov. 4, following a brief investigation by Officers Hauser, Sgt. Fitzgibbons, and Ofc. Kelcey.

According to the police report, Burns had left the hospital while still under treatment.

He later re-entered the facility, activated the fire alarm, and fled the scene.

Burns was apprehended without incident and transported back to the police department for processing.

He was released with a criminal citation to appear in the Windsor County Criminal Court on Dec. 17 at 8:30 a.m. to respond to charges of False Public Alarm and Disorderly Conduct.
