Man arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into tree in Ripton

RIPTON — A 35-year-old Middlebury man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his vehicle into a tree on VT Route 125 late Tuesday night.

The Vermont State Police said Skylar Many was driving a 2006 Subaru Forester when he lost control of the car around 10:55 p.m. near Old Town Road.

The vehicle sustained significant damage to the front, hood, windshield, and passenger side.

Many had left the scene by the time troopers arrived but was found at his home in Middlebury.

Upon interaction with Many, troopers noted signs of impairment.

After screening, Many was taken into custody and transported to the New Haven Barracks for processing.

He refused to undergo evidentiary testing while there.

Following the incident, Many was released with a citation to appear in the Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on a later date.

The Vermont State Police were assisted by the Middlebury Police Department in responding to the crash.
