1 min read

HOLDEN — A routine traffic violation Tuesday night in front of Holden Elementary School led to a significant drug seizure and charges for an Ellsworth man, according to the Holden Police Department.

Officers Christian and Gerald stopped Christopher Webber, 48, for a traffic infraction on Main Rd.

During the stop, police discovered over 20 grams of fentanyl, an amount estimated to be enough to kill approximately 20,000 people, or about six times the population of Holden.

Additionally, officers found 1.75 grams of crack cocaine in Webber’s possession.

Webber is now facing three counts of aggravated drug trafficking.

The charges are based on the quantity of the drugs, the proximity of the offense to a school, and Webber’s criminal history, which includes three prior convictions for aggravated trafficking.

Currently on probation for his prior offenses, Webber has also been charged with a probation violation.

The Holden Police Department emphasizes the importance of Route 1A patrols to enhance traffic safety and disrupt the transit of dangerous narcotics between Bangor and the Down East regions of Maine.
