SHIRLEY — Two teenagers riding unregistered dirt bikes without lights were involved in a collision with a motorist at the intersection of Groton and Townsend Roads, the Shirley Police Department reported.
According to authorities, the accident occurred when the dirt bikes, traveling eastbound on Groton Rd, entered the intersection and were struck by a vehicle driving northbound on Townsend Rd.
The motorist reported not seeing the bikes prior to the collision.
The operator of the dirt bike that was hit sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by life flight to a nearby hospital.
The second dirt biker was unharmed.
Shirley Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
