NEW BEDFORD — A GPS-monitored offender was apprehended with a loaded handgun and significant quantities of drugs following a high-speed chase by detectives with the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau on Nov. 14.

Hayden Andrade, 22, of South Dartmouth, was seen discarding an item while fleeing from authorities, which was later identified as a loaded firearm.

After a brief foot pursuit at the intersection of Brock Avenue and Emery St., detectives took Andrade into custody.

They recovered 18 grams of fentanyl and 42 grams of cocaine from him.

Andrade had previously been arrested in February for cocaine trafficking after 15 grams were seized at his residence.

He was released on bail by the New Bedford District Court.

In April, while still on bail, Andrade led detectives on a vehicle chase that ended in a crash.

He was found with an illegal firearm and 24 grams of cocaine.

The court released him again, this time with a GPS monitoring anklet.

Detectives Jacob Rebello and Jonathan Miranda were the arresting officers.
