Man arrested in connection with Ansonia shooting incident

ANSONIA — A Waterbury man was arrested on November 12 in connection to a shooting investigation that occurred in Ansonia on August 31.

Edward Rumley, 32, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in the incident where shots were fired.

He faces charges including Criminal Attempt at Assault First Degree, Reckless Endangerment First Degree, Unlawful Discharge, Criminal Possession of Firearm, and Carrying a Pistol without a Permit.

Rumley was held on a $250,000 bond and arraigned in court on November 13.

He is now in the custody of the Department of Corrections and is set to appear in court again on November 21.

According to authorities, at least one more arrest is expected, as another suspect is currently detained on unrelated charges and will be arrested at a later date.

The police responded to the shots fired complaint on Fourth Street near North Main Street on the afternoon of August 31 at 4:07 p.m. They found a shell casing and an unspent round but no victims or property damage.

A grey Dodge Caliber was identified as a vehicle of interest, leading to the arrest of Rumley and two others, Claude Perry of Ansonia and Chantel Carter of New Haven, after their car was located by Bridgeport Police.
