Lincoln Woods barracks troopers make multiple arrests for warrants, DUIs

PROVIDENCE — Troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks conducted multiple arrests on Thursday, including individuals wanted on bench warrants and others for driving-related offenses.

At 10:54 a.m., Angel Sierra, a 48-year-old resident of 317 Rand Street, Apartment #3, Central Falls, was arrested on two Superior Court Bench Warrants for Failure to Appear for a Pretrial Conference on charges of Domestic Violence – Felony Assault.

The charges originated from the Central Falls and Pawtucket Police Departments.

Sierra was apprehended during a motor vehicle stop on March Street and later handed over to Providence Superior Court after being processed at the State Police – Lincoln Woods Barracks.

Later that morning, at 11:45 a.m., Eddie Medina, 28, of 287 Manton Avenue, Providence, was arrested on a Third Division District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the charge of Driving with a Suspended/Revoked License.

This charge stemmed from the North Providence Police Department.

Medina’s arrest followed a motor vehicle stop on Branch Avenue and subsequent processing at the barracks before his transportation to Third Division District Court.

In the afternoon, at 2:45 p.m., Carlos Rivera, 47, of 71 Warren Avenue, Pawtucket, was arrested on a bench warrant for Failure to Appear on a charge of Driving Under the Influence of Liquor/Drugs from the North Kingstown Police Department.

Rivera’s arrest was part of an investigation into a motor vehicle accident on Route 95 in Warwick.

He was processed at the barracks and then turned over to the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake Center.

Late at night, at 12:10 a.m., Jorge Baptista, 47, of 86 Allston Street, Apt. 86, Providence, was arrested for Possession of a Schedule I-V Controlled Substance (Crack Cocaine) and on a Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Technical Violation related to a previous Possession of Schedule I-V charge from the Pawtucket Police Department.

Baptista was detained following a motor vehicle stop on Warren Avenue, Pawtucket, and held overnight pending arraignment as a probation violator.

Simultaneously, Randy Defex, 39, of 577 Cranston Street, Apt. 1, Providence, was arrested on a bench warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-trial Conference on a charge of Driving with a Suspended License from the Warwick Police Department.

Defex was processed at the barracks and later transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake Center.

Shortly thereafter, at 12:20 a.m., Felisberto Veiga, 55, of 57 Russo Street, Apt. 3R, Providence, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Liquor/Drugs and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

This arrest occurred during an investigation of a motor vehicle accident on Route 6.

Veiga was processed and released into the custody of a responsible adult with a notice to appear in Sixth Division District Court.
