PORTLAND — A Scarborough man is facing five charges including illegal possession of a firearm after police found him passed out in his vehicle with a handgun and a variety of drugs.
At 8:10 p.m. on Nov. 16, Portland Police responded to a call at the Rusty Lantern on 2282 Congress Street, where they discovered 33-year-old James Selberg Stross of Scarborough unconscious in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle.
A handgun was visible on his lap.
Officers safely retrieved the handgun before beginning their investigation and waking Stross.
A search revealed he was in possession of 31.54 grams of methamphetamine, 5.04 grams of black tar heroin, 4.43 grams of fentanyl, 3.13 grams of cocaine, additional drugs, paraphernalia, and $954 in cash.
Stross was arrested on several charges: illegal possession of a firearm, aggravated trafficking of a scheduled drug, unlawful possession of fentanyl powder with priors, two counts of unlawful possession of a scheduled drug, and operating while his license was suspended or revoked.
He was taken to Cumberland County Jail following the arrest.
