Providence man arrested for forgery and counterfeiting plates

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police arrested a local man for forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates following a traffic stop on Warren Street.

At 10:21 a.m., troopers took Ramon Javier Infante, 43, of 486 Hartford Avenue, into custody without incident.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop conducted in the city.

Infante was later transported to State Police-Lincoln Woods Barracks for processing.

He was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and received a future Sixth District Court date.

In a separate incident, troopers arrested 67-year-old Francisco Martinez of 27 Rugby Street at 1:18 a.m. for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content significantly above the legal limit and possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance.

Martinez’s arrest came after another traffic stop, this time on Bucklin Street.

Martinez’s BAC registered at .188 and .197 during Phase I and Phase II testing, respectively.

He was found in possession of less than 10 grams of cocaine.

Following his arrest, Martinez was taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks for processing.

He was later arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released.
