STAMFORD — Stamford Police Department’s Squad “B” patrol officers responded to a hit-and-run accident yesterday involving a vehicle and a scooter at the McDonald’s located at 1103 East Main Street.
Witnesses at the scene described the vehicle as a BMW sedan, which reportedly fled the accident site heading west on East Main Street.
Police officers utilized surveillance footage to track the vehicle’s route and conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area.
The search culminated at the rear parking lot of 821 East Main Street, where officers found a silver BMW with damage that matched the witness reports.
Inside the car, officers discovered the driver, Jarrell Grant, born on Aug. 20, 2003, seated at the wheel.
A subsequent vehicle inventory check revealed a Springfield XDs 9MM semi-automatic handgun with seven rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber on the driver’s side floor.
The firearm was in plain sight, leading to Grant’s immediate arrest on both motor vehicle charges and illegal possession of a firearm.
The Stamford Police Department commended the prompt action and collaborative effort of Squad “B,” which resulted in the swift identification and apprehension of the suspect.
