Houlton police arrest man with suspected fentanyl, cocaine at Circle K

HOULTON — A Smyrna man was arrested early Wednesday morning after police discovered a cache of illicit drugs in his car at a local convenience store parking lot.

At 6:29 a.m., Houlton Police Officer Ethan Jacques responded to a call at the Circle K on 3 Military Street, where a male was found slumped over in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle.

The man, later identified as Marcel N.

Singleton, 25, became responsive when Officer Jacques engaged with him.

During the encounter, Officer Jacques noticed drug paraphernalia and residue inside Singleton’s vehicle, prompting a thorough search by officers Sera Smalley and Jacob Goodman.

The team uncovered 94.72 grams of suspected fentanyl, 1.37 grams of cocaine, and various pills.

Singleton was charged with unlawful trafficking of Schedule Z drugs, unlawful possession of Schedule W drugs, and unlawful trafficking of Schedule W drugs, with the last charge classified as Class A.

He was taken to the Houlton Police Department for processing, and his bail was set at $10,000 before being transported to the Aroostook County Jail.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
