WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department and Wilmington Fire Department responded to a brush fire on Shawsheen Avenue near Nichols Street earlier today.
Officials announced the fire has been extinguished and the previously closed section of the road between Reed Street and Nichols Street is now reopened to traffic.
Local authorities had temporarily shut down the affected portion of Shawsheen Avenue to allow firefighters to safely address the blaze.
The quick response and joint effort of both departments ensured the fire was contained without further incident.
