BRIDGEPORT — A routine traffic patrol on the West Side on Nov. 12 turned into a significant bust when Officer Compolattaro of the Bridgeport Police Department spotted a red Honda Accord committing traffic violations.
After witnessing the vehicle run a red light and make an improper turn, Officer Compolattaro, with assistance from Officer Fischetti, conducted a traffic stop.
The driver, identified as Berrios, was found to be on probation.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a stolen Springfield .45 caliber handgun and a controlled substance inside Berrios’ vehicle.
As a result of the find, Berrios now faces multiple charges and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
Officer Compolattaro, a celebrated member of the Bridgeport Police Department known as one of the “3 Horsemen,” has been recognized for his commitment to public safety.
His quick thinking and use of a tourniquet recently saved a life during an emergency.
Additionally, his academic achievements did not go unnoticed as he was awarded the Luciano Award for the highest GPA at the police academy.
The Bridgeport Police Department is extending an invitation to the community to recognize Officer Compolattaro for his unwavering dedication to keeping the city safe.
