New York man arrested in Naugatuck for illegal cannabis sales

NAUGATUCK — Following multiple complaints from the community, including reports from juveniles, the Naugatuck Police Department, in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration and several Connecticut state agencies, has arrested a New York man for unlawful cannabis and THC product sales.

Saleh Ali, 33, from Bronx, New York, was taken into custody after authorities executed a search warrant at 92 Convenience on Church Street and an adjacent apartment linked to the business.

The operation uncovered a variety of illegal cannabis and THC products, and items related to the packaging and distribution of cannabis.

On Nov. 13, Ali was charged with illegal manufacture, distribution, or sale of cannabis products; conspiracy to commit the same; money laundering in the fourth degree; and conspiracy to commit money laundering in the fourth degree.

Ali was released on a $100,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 11 at 9 a.m.

The Naugatuck Police Department expressed gratitude to the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, Connecticut Department of Labor, Connecticut Department of Revenue, and Connecticut Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services for their assistance in the investigation.
