Williston man cited for driving nearly double the speed limit on I-89

WILLISTON — A Colchester man was cited for negligent operation after Vermont State Police clocked his vehicle traveling at 124 miles per hour on Interstate 89 on Nov. 13.

Police observed the vehicle speeding north near mile marker 83.2 around 8:37 p.m., significantly over the 65 mph speed limit.

Upon activating RADAR, officers confirmed the high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as Robert Bierer, 58, was issued a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court.

Bierer faces charges related to negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

In addition to the citation, Bierer received a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for exceeding interstate speed limits under Title 23 Section 1004.

The offense carries a penalty of two points on his driving record and a waiver amount of $862.
