WILLIMANTIC — A wanted individual was arrested in possession of narcotics and a firearm after a foot chase with police on Nov. 12.
Willimantic Police said an officer on routine patrol near Armoury Apartments on Pleasant Street spotted Joel Gallego-Pacheco, who had an active PRAWN re-arrest warrant.
Upon attempting to apprehend Gallego-Pacheco, he fled on foot.
During the pursuit, Gallego-Pacheco dropped a loaded .22 caliber revolver, which the officer secured before taking him into custody.
A search incident to arrest yielded 103 glassine bags of fentanyl, approximately 10.5 grams of crack cocaine, and a mini digital scale.
Gallego-Pacheco faces charges including theft of a firearm, criminal possession of a revolver, criminal possession of ammunition, intent to sell narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, interfering with an arrest, and two counts of violation of a protective order.
He was held on a $150,000 cash/surety bond and is slated for a Nov. 13 court appearance at Danielson Superior Court.
The Willimantic Police Department emphasized that the incident posed no threat to public safety and highlighted the seizure of the stolen firearm as part of their commitment to reducing illegal weapons in the community.
