HARRISON — Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a shooting incident on Nov. 13 after responding to a call for assistance from a man threatening self-harm.
Arthur Lefebvre, 57, made the call around 1:14 p.m. from his residence on Hawk Ridge Road but disconnected after informing authorities that he was armed and before providing his identity.
When deputies arrived at the scene, Lefebvre was uncooperative and fired multiple rounds at the officers.
It was discovered that other family members were inside the home, potentially in danger.
Despite attempts to communicate with Lefebvre, he confronted the deputies outside the residence with a firearm.
Three deputies shot Lefebvre, who sustained serious injuries.
Lefebvre was airlifted to Maine Medical Center for treatment.
According to the latest reports, his injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
The Office of the Attorney General has taken over the investigation regarding the use of deadly force by the law enforcement officers.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the criminal aspects of the incident.
As per standard procedures, the three deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave.
Their names will be disclosed at a later date.
