WINDSOR LOCKS — A Windsor Locks senior citizen fell victim to identity theft resulting in approximately $9,100 in fraudulent charges, police said.

The Windsor Locks Police Department received a report on April 5 of an identity theft involving a 94-year-old resident.

The subsequent investigation pointed to the victim’s in-home caregiver, Michelle Labowski, 70 East Granby Road, Granby, CT, as the perpetrator.

Detectives discovered that Labowski had gained access to the elderly person’s personal information and opened a Chase Amazon Prime Visa credit card.

Over about three months, Labowski allegedly used the card to rack up around $9,100 in charges for goods and services.

After a thorough investigation, Windsor Locks detectives secured an arrest warrant and charged Labowski with first-degree identity theft.

Labowski surrendered to the Windsor Locks Police Department on Nov. 11 and was processed.

Following her booking, Labowski was released on a $25,000 cash/surety bond set by the court.

She is scheduled to appear at Hartford Superior Court on Nov. 20.

Windsor Locks Police Department commended their detectives for their persistence and hard work in a statement, noting the complexities and demands such investigations place on department resources amidst ongoing new cases.
