MERIDEN — A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested and charged with first-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace following a bomb threat made to Platt High School, according to the Meriden Police Department.
The threat, which surfaced on social media on November 7, prompted a swift response from the Meriden Police Department Patrol Division, School Resource Officers, the Connecticut State Police K9 unit, and the Meriden Police Special Crimes Unit.
An extensive investigation led to the arrest of the teenager, whose identity has not been disclosed due to their minor status.
The Meriden Police Department Detective Division expressed gratitude to the City of Meriden Board of Education and the staff from Hartford Hospital for their assistance during the investigation.
The incident caused significant disruption to the community and the school’s learning environment, highlighting the considerable impact such threats have.
