Plainville police seek public’s help to identify hit-and-run suspect

PLAINVILLE — A routine traffic stop turned dangerous when a driver fled the scene and nearly hit a Plainville police officer on New Britain Avenue, authorities said.

Officer Monthei of the Plainville Police Department stopped a Mercedes with Connecticut registration BH-76241 in front of a Volkswagen dealership at approximately 7:13 p.m. on Nov. 11.

The driver, described only as a male suspect, subsequently fled the stop, nearly striking Officer Monthei in the process.

The police department has released an appeal to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect.

The Plainville Police Department is seeking the community’s help to ensure the individual is apprehended swiftly to prevent any future incidents.
