SOLON — A month-long investigation into drug trafficking culminated Thursday morning with the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division executing a search warrant and arresting four individuals on multiple drug-related charges.
At approximately 10:10 a.m., Nov. 7, law enforcement officers raided the residence of Cory Miller, 37, where they discovered over 400 grams of fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, a loaded 9mm pistol, and other evidence of drug trafficking.
This raid marks the second operation at Miller’s home since Sept. 13.
Miller, who was already out on bail from the previous search, was apprehended and faces charges including two counts of Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class A), Unlawful Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class B), and a Violation of Conditions of Release.
Also arrested at the scene were Devan Craig, 35, of Worcester, Massachusetts, charged with three counts of Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class A) and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon; Zahkari Bennett, 22, of Manhattan, New York, facing two counts of Aggregated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class A) and Unlawful Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class B); and Brittany Barton, 39, of Damariscotta, Maine, charged with Possession of Scheduled Drugs (Class D) and Violation of Conditions of Release.
Authorities seized drugs with an estimated street value of $40,000.
The severity of the drug charges is heightened by the significant quantity of narcotics and the presence of a firearm.
All four individuals are currently detained at the Somerset County Jail, with Miller and Barton held without bail, while Craig and Bennett’s bail is set at $100,000 cash each.
They are scheduled for an initial court appearance on Feb. 5, at 8:30 a.m., at the Somerset County Unified Criminal Court.
Sheriff Lancaster indicated that additional charges may be pending as the Somerset County District Attorney’s Office reviews the cases.
