BOSTON — Two juveniles were arrested and a firearm was recovered by Boston Police Department officers in Dorchester on Thursday, officials reported.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:18 p.m., when officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) were patrolling the area of Fowler Street.
They observed four juvenile males on the steps, one of whom was holding a marijuana cigarette.
Given that the legal age for marijuana possession in Massachusetts is 21, officers approached to engage with the group.
As the officers exited their cruiser, the juveniles began to verbally confront them.
During the encounter, one juvenile male appeared to be discreetly adjusting his clothing.
A subsequent pat frisk revealed a Smith and Wesson revolver concealed in his front waistband.
The 14-year-old male was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and issued a City Ordinance Violation for possession of marijuana under 21 years old.
The second juvenile, a 15-year-old male, was apprehended on the strength of four outstanding warrants from Suffolk County Juvenile Court.
The charges included assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault and battery, and breaking and entering into a motor vehicle at night.
During his search, officers found two live rounds of ammunition and one spent shell casing, leading to an additional charge of unlawful possession of ammunition.
Both juveniles are set to be arraigned in Dorchester Juvenile Court.
