Suspect arrested in 2019 North Branford bank robbery case

NORTH BRANFORD — The North Branford Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect in the December 13, 2019, Key Bank robbery on Foxon Road.

Stephen Alberino, 40, was taken into custody after a multi-year investigation led by the North Branford Detective Bureau.

Following the robbery, law enforcement officers were dispatched quickly, but the suspect had already fled the scene.

Despite initial setbacks, the North Branford Police, with assistance from the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office, relentlessly pursued all leads, which led to Alberino’s identification as the suspect.

Investigators worked meticulously, analyzing evidence, developing leads, and conducting interviews to build a strong case against Alberino.

Their work culminated in an arrest warrant charging him with Robbery in the First Degree and Larceny in the Second Degree.

On November 7, 2024, Alberino was located and apprehended by the Branford Police Department.

He is detained on a $250,000 court-set bond and is scheduled for a court appearance on November 8 in New Haven.

Chief of Police James Lovelace commended the efforts of the detectives involved, emphasizing their commitment to justice and the critical role of teamwork in solving the case.
