SOUTHINGTON — Police have apprehended a 33-year-old Waterbury man in connection with a series of armed robberies at gas stations along Meriden Waterbury Turnpike, the latest occurring at the Go Happy Gas Station.

Jeremy Edmond, of 185 Cooke Street, Waterbury, was arrested after Southington Police responded to a 911 call on Nov. 6 about an armed robbery at Go Happy Gas Station, 2210 Meriden Waterbury Tnpk.

The caller described the suspect as an African American male brandishing a black handgun and demanding money.

The suspect, dressed in dark clothing and a face covering, reportedly went behind the counter and took cash from the register.

The Southington Police Department had responded to two similar incidents in the preceding week, with a matching suspect description.

After developing a description of the suspect’s vehicle, officers spotted a vehicle fitting that profile entering the I-84 onramp.

The driver, resembling the suspect from the robberies, was followed into Waterbury, where he was detained without incident.

A black plastic facsimile handgun and a significant amount of cash were found in Edmond’s vehicle.

He faces charges of first-degree robbery, threatening, fourth-degree larceny, and second-degree breach of peace.

Edmond’s bond was set at $1 million.

Following his arrest, Edmond appeared at the New Britain Superior Court on Nov. 7.
