RINDGE — After being alerted to an active arrest warrant, Rindge police swiftly apprehended Edward W. Ford, a homeless man wanted in Massachusetts, at a supermarket on Thursday.

Authorities were notified of the warrant for Ford, born May 24, 1985, with charges out of Winchendon, MA, including assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and carrying dangerous weapons.

Using cell phone location data, law enforcement tracked Ford to the shopping area of the Walmart and Hannaford plazas around 12:27 p.m.

The Rindge and Winchendon police departments worked together to locate Ford, who was found near the Hannaford supermarket’s self-checkout lanes.

Ford was taken into custody without incident and has been charged as a fugitive from justice.

He was transported to Cheshire County House of Corrections to await extradition to Massachusetts.
