Pedestrian struck by train in Portland, taken to hospital with critical injuries

PORTLAND — On Thursday, a pedestrian was hit by a train behind Gilman Electrical Supply on Saint James Street at 1:36 p.m., according to the Portland Police Department.

An unidentified male was transported to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries following the incident.

Local authorities, along with Amtrak Railroad Police and CSX Rail, are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.

As of now, no charges have been filed.
