BOSTON — Boston police arrested a man early Friday morning after recovering a firearm, multiple knives, and brass knuckles during a traffic stop in Dorchester.

At about 1:17 a.m., officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) pulled over Calvin Horne, 38, of Holbrook, on firearm charges.

The officers were patrolling the area of American Legion Highway when they noticed a vehicle speeding in the opposite direction.

They managed to follow the vehicle as it turned onto Blue Hill Avenue.

Upon running a registration check, the officers found that the vehicle’s insurance had been revoked, rendering it inoperable on public roads.

Despite activating their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens, the vehicle did not immediately stop, eventually coming to a halt at 19 Wolcott Street.

After informing Horne that his vehicle would be towed, officers carried out an inventory search and discovered a Phoenix Arms HP22A handgun with ten rounds in the magazine inside the vehicle.

Further search yielded five knives, one of which was equipped with brass knuckles.

Horne faces several charges, including Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm 3rd Offence, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition Subsequent Offence, Firearm Violation with Three Prior Violent/Drug Crimes, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon (Brass Knuckles), Carrying a Dangerous Weapon 4th Offence, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Habitual Criminal Penalty Enhancement.

Additionally, he received a Massachusetts Motor Vehicle citation for multiple vehicular law violations.
