BEVERLY — Police arrested a Beverly man on an array of narcotics trafficking and firearm charges after an incident near 91 Cabot Street on Wednesday evening.
Members of the Beverly Police Drug Control Unit took Steven N. Cunha, 37, into custody on three outstanding warrants.
Cunha is facing additional charges including possession of a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and trafficking substances such as cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.
During the arrest, associates of Cunha attempted to interfere with the officers as he exited his residence.
Despite the disruption, detectives secured Cunha and found him in possession of a backpack containing drugs and a loaded .25 caliber handgun.
The confiscated items included approximately 35 grams of cocaine, around 20 grams of fentanyl, 20 grams of methamphetamine, multiple pills of oxycodone, Adderall, LSD, and buprenorphine, as well as PCP, electronic scales, and $1,874 in cash.
Following the arrest, Cunha was transported to Beverly Hospital before being taken to police headquarters.
He was scheduled to appear in Salem District Court this morning.
