NORWALK — A Norwalk man was arrested on charges including first-degree sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl, authorities said Wednesday.
Armando Cruz-Zambrano, 56, was taken into custody on Nov. 5 after patrol officers responded to the initial report of the assault on Sept. 29, according to the Norwalk Police Department.
The Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation and developed probable cause, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Cruz-Zambrano, of 46 Fairfield Ave., was stopped by detectives while driving on East Avenue and arrested without incident.
He is facing charges of first-degree sexual assault, illegal sexual contact with a victim under 16, third-degree assault, and interfering with an emergency call.
The bond was set at $2 million, and Cruz-Zambrano is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 19.
