NORTH HAVEN — Braulio Goyenechea, a 39-year-old Guilford resident, was arrested on Oct. 29 after an investigation linked him to a loaded handgun found in a satchel bag at a local Cinemark theater in July.

North Haven Police Department was alerted to the firearm after Cinemark employees discovered the weapon while searching for identification to locate the bag’s owner.

The subsequent investigation by North Haven detectives led to the identification of Goyenechea as the bag’s owner.

Further inquiry revealed that Goyenechea did not possess a valid pistol permit.

An arrest warrant was issued and later approved by the Meriden Superior Court.

Goyenechea faces charges of Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.

After his arrest, he was released on a court-set bond of $50,000.
