HARTLAND — A Hartland man was arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting a juvenile under the age of 16, authorities said Friday.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division received a complaint on Aug. 12, leading Detective Jeremy Leal to investigate the claims against Christopher Todd, 35.
The investigation uncovered that Todd allegedly committed the abuse over the past year.
After coordination with the District Attorney’s Office, an arrest warrant was issued for Todd on three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor (Class C).
Sergeant Mathew Cunningham of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Todd at his residence on Nov. 1.
Initially, Todd’s bail was set at $10,000 cash with the condition that he have no contact with the victim or any children under 18.
However, during his first court appearance on Nov. 4, a judge reduced the bail to $400 cash.
The revised conditions still mandate no contact with the victim but allow Todd to interact with children under certain circumstances as determined by the Department of Health and Human Service.
