TEWKSBURY — Chief Ryan Columbus announced the arrest of a Wilmington man following a series of traffic violations on Main Street.

Owen Cunningham, 47, of Wilmington, faces charges including failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, marked lanes violation, speeding, and failure to stop for a red light.

At about 1:45 p.m. on Nov. 5, Officer Ryan Sheehan observed a white Dodge Ram driving erratically and side-swiping another vehicle on Main Street.

The driver, later identified as Cunningham, did not comply when Sheehan tried to pull the vehicle over and instead sped away.

Sheehan did not engage in pursuit due to concerns for public safety.

Tewksbury Police later located the suspect vehicle parked behind a building at 663 Main St. Cunningham was found hiding under brush in the woods nearby and was apprehended without incident.

Cunningham is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in Lowell District Court.
