MERRIMACK — A Connecticut woman was taken into custody on Nov. 2 after police responded to a theft in progress at the Polo Outlet in Merrimack.
Gwendolyn Chambers, of Hartford, Connecticut, was arrested by Merrimack Police at 7:53 p.m. for Theft by Unauthorized Taking (Class B Felony), Criminal Trespass, and Possession of Theft Detection Device Remover (Class B Misdemeanor).
Officers arrived at the scene to find Chambers with multiple concealed items in her bag that were determined to be stolen.
A subsequent records check revealed Chambers had previously been involved in a theft at the same store in 2020 and was in violation of a trespass order from that incident.
At the Merrimack Police Department, Chambers was found to be in possession of merchandise valued at over $1,000 and a tool for removing theft detection devices.
Given the value of the stolen goods and Chambers’ history of theft convictions, the current offense qualified as a Class B Felony.
Chambers was processed and released on Personal Recognizance Bail.
She is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Merrimack District Court on Nov. 21 to respond to the charges.
