RICHFORD — A 19-year-old Richford resident was arrested Monday evening after allegedly posting false warnings of school violence on social media.
Vermont State Police apprehended Keegan Lagasse following reports of his alarming posts, which referenced an unspecified act of school violence.
The posts, discovered by Richford High School staff, prompted an immediate investigation.
Authorities determined Lagasse willfully circulated a false bombing threat, an act likely to cause public inconvenience or alarm.
He was charged with False Public Alarms and taken to the St. Albans Barracks for processing.
State Police coordinated with the Franklin Northeast Supervisory Union Superintendent and the Vermont School Safety Liaison Officer to ensure swift communication with school families and staff.
This is not Lagasse’s first offense.
He was previously charged for calling in bomb threats to schools in St. Albans and Richford on Sept. 14 and is scheduled for arraignment on Nov. 5 at 8:30 a.m.
Following Monday’s incident, Lagasse was held at Northwest State Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000.
He is due for arraignment today at 1 p.m. at the Franklin County Superior Court.
