PUTNEY — A Putney resident was arrested early Saturday morning on charges including aggravated assault with a weapon, following an altercation where he allegedly pointed a firearm at an individual and used hateful language.
Vermont State Police responded to a call at 1:15 a.m. on Vinegar Lane, where they interviewed victims and witnesses.
Authorities determined that Zachary Goldberg, 42, not only brandished a weapon but also engaged in disorderly conduct, made threats, and instigated a disturbance, actions that are being investigated as a hate crime.
After being processed at the Westminster State Police Barracks, Goldberg was released with conditions pending his court appearance.
He is scheduled to face the charges at the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, on Nov. 4 at 12:30 p.m.
