Putney man arrested for aggravated assault, hate crime

PUTNEY — On Feb. 11, Vermont State Police arrested a Putney man on multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a weapon and a hate crime after a late-night altercation.

Zachary Goldberg, 42, was taken into custody following reports of a confrontation involving a firearm on Vinegar Lane.

State troopers responded to the scene at 1:15 a.m., interviewing victims and witnesses.

Authorities determined Goldberg had pointed a gun at an individual, engaged in disorderly conduct, and made criminal threats using abusive and hateful language.

Goldberg was processed at the Westminster State Police Barracks and released with a citation and conditions.

He is scheduled to appear at the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, on Feb. 4 at 12:30 p.m.
