HOULTON — A Littleton man was arrested on multiple counts of burglary and theft following a break-in at Handy Dandy Storage on Oct. 29, police said.
Christopher D. Foster, 53, is facing three counts of burglary and three counts of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer after being apprehended by Houlton Police Department officers at the storage facility located at 424 North Road.
At 8:19 p.m., Sgt. Tarvis Smith, Officer Josh Foster, and Officer Morgan Grant were dispatched to the scene following a report of a burglary in progress.
The complainant identified a Blue Ford pickup with Maine registration 8276 ZX as being involved.
Upon arrival, Officer Grant made contact with the suspect vehicle and its male operator.
With the support of the other responding officers, an investigation was launched.
The property owners had observed the suspicious vehicle on the premises multiple times since Oct. 24, noting items in the truck bed that appeared to be taken from the storage units.
Security footage provided by the owners helped officers confirm that the items in the back of the Ford pickup did not belong to the operator and were indeed stolen from the storage property.
A subsequent search of the suspect’s property led to the recovery of additional stolen items from other storage units.
All recovered property was taken as evidence.
Foster was arrested and transported to the Aroostook County Jail.
Chief DeLuca confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to determine if there are further connections to other burglaries in the area.
