PROVIDENCE — Troopers from the Rhode Island State Police made several arrests following routine traffic stops in the early hours of the morning.
At 2:55 a.m., Chris Castro, 43, of Cranston, was arrested on charges including violation of a no-contact order, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer in the execution of duty.
The arrest occurred after a vehicle stop on Cranston Street.
Castro, who has a history of similar offenses, was held at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and is awaiting arraignment as a bail violator in the Sixth Division District Court.
In a separate incident at the same time, William S.
Alexander, 67, of Providence, was taken into custody from another traffic stop on Cranston Street.
Alexander faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, identified as less than 10 grams of crack cocaine, and obstructing an officer.
He was also processed at Lincoln Woods Barracks and is being held pending his arraignment.
Later at 3:32 a.m., Rodelin Rene, 29, of Providence, was arrested on Route 146 in North Providence for forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates and giving a false document to a public official.
After processing at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, Rene was released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.
